10 Steps to Make For a Healthy Life

If you think you have a busy life and you can’t just be committed to a healthy lifestyle, trust me, we all fell into this trap once and we know exactly how busy your life is. Yet, many successful people out there are doing great in their business while keeping a healthy body.
The busy schedule is not always an efficient one. People try to make justifications.
Forget the excuses. Just for today, focus on the many ways you can improve your health. This list is by no means complete but a starting point to get you making your physical, emotional, and spiritual health a priority in your busy life. And, once you do these health upgrades today, do them again tomorrow. Before you know it you’ll be living a healthy lifestyle…with virtually no effort.

1. Drink more water. Your body is 90 percent water and needs water for almost every function. Many of the aches and pains, headaches, and other symptoms we experience would lessen if we just drank more water.

2. Go for a quick walk. Your body was made to move. Your heart is a muscle that needs movement to function optimally. We know this but we often need a reminder to just do it.

3. Better yet, take your walk in nature. Trees and other plants are regularly turning our carbon dioxide into rich oxygen we can breathe. Oxygenated air helps kill bacteria and viruses, improves breathing, and may even help prevent cancer.

4. Hug someone you love. When you hug someone you love (someone who actually wants to be hugged), your body releases feel-good hormones like oxytocin that ward off depression.

5. Eat Fruits (like grapes, blueberries, cherries, etc. as a serving). Brilliantly-colored fruit is packed with disease-fighting phytonutrients like proanthocyanins that protect against brain diseases and quercetin which helps alleviate allergies and breathing problems.

6. Eat a large salad. They are packed with vitamins, minerals, chlorophyll (gives plants their green color and boosts our blood health), enzymes (that improve digestion and increase energy), and many phytonutrients.

7. Meditate. Just taking some time out to clear your thoughts and unplugging from technology and people can help you feel more balanced and peaceful.

8. Deep breath for at least 5 minutes, as often as you can. Research shows that deep breathing, even for minutes, can reduce stress hormone levels. That translates into less anxiety, better sleep, and less likelihood to pack on the pounds. Stop and smell the flowers, literally. Not only will slowing down make you feel great, you will be exposed to natural aromatherapy with relaxing, energizing, or therapeutic effects. 

9. Write down at least 10 things for which you are grateful. Increasing amounts of research show that gratitude builds better health and happiness.

10. Soak in a warm bath with Epsom salts. The magnesium in Epsom salts absorbs through your skin and helps relax your muscles and reduce pain levels while contributing to your heart health.

Repetitive Tasks That Can Reshape Your Life For A Better Fatherood

We all want to be great dads, but chances are, our fathers never sat down with us and taught us how to be a better father. Although everyone was raised with a father and a mother but we don’t necessarily want to be our fathers. I mean, we want to imitate their positive influence on us, but we also want to do it our own way. And because children tend to spend more of their time with their mother, not being the greatest dad ever isn’t as obvious. No matter who we are, though, we can always improve our relationship with our kids and our spouse, and we can redefine the meaning of fatherhood each and every day.

Here are quick points on how to be a better father, you can pick 10 of them and start taking action for about one month. I’m sure you will see the difference by then.

  1. Be present with your children and listen to them with all of your attention.
  2. Praise on your kids.
  3. Focus on the positive when speaking to your children.
  4. Say I love you. A lot. Don’t be afraid to show your emotions to your family.
  5. Work on improving your relationship with your wife or partner.
  6. Take time out from work for the family time.
  7. Let your kids make their own choices, hold your kids accountable for their actions and words, but don’t use punishment to teach.
  8. Do something wacky and unpredictable in front of your kids.
  9. Spend some time one-on-one with your child.
  10. Take more walks, and leave the car at home.
  11. Admit you’re wrong when you are.
  12. Teach a new dad what you’ve learned so far.
  13. Take time for yourself, so you can bring that sense of fulfillment with you to the family.
  14. Remember what you hated to hear from your parents as a kid and vow to be different.
  15. Read out loud to your children.
  16. Leave your work issues at your job. Don’t dump on your kids because your day was bad.
  17. Count to 10 before you react to your children’s actions.
  18. When a child does something not so nice, separate their actions from them in your mind. A child is never bad, even though their actions may be.
  19. Make your health and fitness a priority so you’ll be around for your kids for a long time.
  20. Take the time to really explain things to your children. Don’t just say “because I said so.”
  21. Accept who you are, but don’t settle. Strive to improve yourself every day.
  22. Periodically assess your life and change course if needed. Don’t be unhappy just because you think you can’t change.
  23. Imagine you’ve only got one week left to live. How would you treat your kids? What’s stopping you from doing that right now?
  24. Find your center and define what truly matters to you. Make that your inner retreat when life throws you a curve ball and share that with your kids.

Energy bars, gels, and sports drinks are all available on the market today. But sometimes the best way to fuel up during an endurance event is with the foods that are already in your kitchen. The surprising thing is that energy bars and specialty foods upset people’s stomach. So why don’t we shift and try natural alternatives available in our kitchen? 

Here are the 5 running fuels:

RAISINS

“Dried fruit is easily digested into glucose, which is what your body needs to sustain itself during a race,” A new study found that when cyclists ate raisins, their finish time, power, and perceived exertion weren’t any different from when they ate Jelly Belly Sports Beans, a specialty item.  

TEA WITH HONEY

Your body loses electrolytes when you sweat. So when you’re running a long race, you need to refill them by drinking something other than water. Plus, they’re light and airy, which shouldn’t upset your stomach. Shoot to eat about 150-300 calories per hour, depending on what your body needs.

Pretzels are made up of refined carbohydrates. This kind of carb is quickly digested, which will boost your blood sugar levels during the event. Plus, they’re also relatively high in sodium, that crucial electrolyte.

ORANGE JUICE

Another optional homemade energy drink? Diluted orange juice. What makes it so great is that it’s already high in potassium (another electrolyte), so adding a little bit of sodium makes it especially effective. Try 16 ounces of orange juice mixed with 16 ounces of water and topped off with 1 teaspoon of salt.

The management of risks is an essential part of the strategic management required of an entrepreneur.

When A Daughter’s Career is Affected Primarily by Her Dad

For a woman, the first man she met in her life and dived into his masculine being is her father.

Daughters are so attached to their fathers at the psychological level. They tend to see their daddy as the only way to escape the mother’s discipline methods. The way he behaves and play with his daughter can teach empathy, healthy risk taking and identifying boundaries.

We need to pinpoint an essential fact here. The way you treat your daughter, beginning from her childhood can affect her career path. Girls, where their fathers are involved in their lives, have more self-confidence, tend to make better choices on the long term and more likely to finish their education. Most importantly, you will be coaching her unconsciously how she will accept to be treated by men.  All starts with the little things and time you spend with her.

She will learn from you how to be a good leader. Girls observe their fathers thru the way you treat your wife and other authority figures in your family life and set an example for how leadership works or doesn’t. From this aspect, you can decide to make it easy or difficult for her to have leadership skills.

Encourage her to express herself freely to you, for the reason that she will be expressing her opinion to her boss or peers with confidence even if it’s contradictory.

Always keep in mind; it is easier to mentor a daughter than a son. I can share with you some examples of women who were mentored by their fathers and became successful in their career path like Donald Trump’s heir apparent is daughter Ivanka, Rupert Murdoch’s heir apparent is daughter Elisabeth.

Her life career depends on you!

There is no replacement for you since nobody else will teach her the things you will. The Daddy-Daughter relationship is something that women take with her to the grave.

Finding Time for your Kids

What are you planning to do with your family this weekend? Or next weekend? Or the weekend after that?

Coordinating schedules and managing our time is a big part of parenting. Between bringing kids to practice or after school activities, having mom and dad on different work schedules, and handling an inevitable child care disruption, it can be easy to lose sight of the importance of making the effort to create time for you and your kids. 

With such busy schedules in mind, we found different ideas on easy, fun, and inexpensive ways you can make the most of the time you have together. Here are a few examples you can try:

Volunteer together!
Research suggests that families who volunteer together forge stronger ties. Also, kids who become involved in community service develop greater self-esteem and are less likely to engage in risky behaviors in their teen years.  

Take a 'what if' trip.
Looking for a conversation starter over your next family dinner? Try this: If you could visit anywhere, or anytime, in the world, where would it be, and why? Share your answer too. 

Say Thank You to Your Kids.
Saying 'thank you' to your children not only lets them feel loved and appreciated, it also helps teach them the importance of showing thanks to others. How? Say it, spend time together, or give them a card.

Make a fort.
Next time you're stuck inside, makes a blanket fort. Grab blankets, pillows, and flashlights then build something incredible. Even a simple tent between two chairs can feel like an adventure if you and your children are working together.
It’s not about how much time you spend together, the important part is that you are together. Those are the moments that can make the biggest difference in your child’s life. 

Take time out from work for family time.
Trust me; they will be more than happy once they know that you left your day at work in order to be present with them. They will really appreciate the gesture you made.

Play games with your children.
Let them win sometimes, but don’t make it obvious or easy.

The thing kids want most from their dads is their time.

10 Easy Sales Strategies for Small Companies

Selling for a small firm is harder than selling for a large one. Your customer may never have heard of your firm, there is probably not many sales support, and you likely cannot spend big money to develop and close an account. Nevertheless, it is not just possible, but downright easy, to outsell the big guys.

All you need are these simple rules:

Strategy #1: Differentiate Yourself and Your Firm. To compete with a larger firm there is got to have something different. Your product must be higher in quality, easier to use, more convenient to buy, or a better fit than the competition. To do so, you must be better able to help customers clarify their needs and craft a solution. In addition, you must be faster at the customers service.

Strategy #2: Treat Your Weaknesses as Strengths. Customers may not know your firm (a weakness) but they do not have negative preconceptions either (a strength). You may not have an expense account for a fancy lunch (a weakness) but you can show your customer that you do not waste money (a strength). Your firm might have meager higher prices (a weakness) but you are willing to craft flexible terms (a strength.)

Strategy #3: Exhibit Extreme Confidence. People who sell for small firms can spoil their credibility by trying to explain away the inexperience or size of their firm. Smart customers smell that fear and see it as a signal to demand steep discounts or concessions. Convince yourself (and thence the customer) that a customer would be foolish or crazy to buy from anyone else.

Strategy #4: Do not be Afraid to Bail. Wishful thinking can propel you into a world of wasted effort. Once it becomes clear that a deal does not make sense or will take too much effort to close, it is not worth pursuing. For example, if you cannot meet with the REAL decision-maker, you are not going to get the business. So move on to the next prospect, without regrets.

Strategy #5: Be Your Company’s Brand. A brand experience is an emotion a customer feels when buying or using a product. A sales rep working for IBM or Bristol-Myers only needs a business card to create a brand experience. By contrast, when you are selling for a small firm, the brand experience consists of YOUR appearance, YOUR voice, and YOUR ability to solve problems.

Strategy #6: Think Like an Entrepreneur. Since your firm lacks the infrastructure of a larger firm, the only person you can trust to get things done is YOU. Be frugal with your time and resources, and constantly find creative ways to get things done more quickly and easily. Remember: activity multiplied by hours spent equals sales results. Make everything you do lead towards those results.

Strategy #7: No Free Consulting. When a customer asks you to do something for free, your response must ALWAYS be to ask for something comparable in return. For example, if a customer asks you to provide them with an RFP based upon 35 pages of questions, insist that you’ll only do the work if you guarantee a meeting with the CEO to present your solution.

Strategy #8: Have a Low Threshold of NO. Never cave to a customer who’s being unreasonable. Maybe your larger competitor can afford to obey the rules in order to win the business, but you don’t have the luxury of being anything less than the best. And the best in any industry NEVER trickle. Be cooperative but be constantly aware of your true worth to the customer.

Strategy #9: Be Your Firms Greatest Strength. Top executives do not have the time to sit down with cookie-cutter sales reps, but they always have time for somebody who can redefine problems and devise solutions. If you can truly add value, you are the most valuable person that CEO will meet with that day, maybe that month, maybe even that year.

Strategy #10: Take Responsibility for Your Skills. Big firms have the money to hire professional sales trainers, run sales mentoring programs, and employ sales managers to coach novices. In a small firm, it’s up to you (and you alone) to constantly sharpen your sales skills, learn new sales techniques, and develop your sales career.

In order to have a healthy life, the trick is to focus on making the healthy choice in any given moment, rather than looking at all the things you must do in the long term. With that in mind, here is a list of habits and behaviors you can adopt that will add up to a healthy lifestyle.

Make your bed and get dressed:
Whether you work from home, in an office, or outside, the very moment you wake up, make your bed before walking away from it. Research has shown that depressed or extremely stressed individuals do not make their beds. And get dressed…need I say more? Work at it a little bit. You’ll feel better if you look your best.

Eat breakfast: 
Studies have shown that avoiding breakfast causes stress and moodiness. Just don’t skip breakfast, my friends!

Replace bad fat with good fat:
Many scientists and researchers have demonstrated that one commonality among centenarians around the world is that they all consume raw nuts on a daily basis. Read ingredients and try to avoid as many chemicals as possible.

Avoid Aspartame:
Any idea how stressed this makes you? Aspartame is the source of so many serious health issues. Can you imagine how stressed you might be if you have one or more of the health issues?

Drink herbal teas:
Oh my goodness, any idea how good these are for stress and anxiety? It is quite true in fact that there are so many benefits to herbal teas – reducing stress is just one of the many.

Spice up your life:
That is to say, add more spices such as cinnamon and turmeric to your foods. They have such great health benefits and they do in fact assist in reducing stress.

Try to reduce medications:
Well if you follow some of the above suggestions you might actually be able to reduce some of your medications; this will simply make you feel better.

Understanding Body Language Through Practice

If you want to become a master of nonverbal communication, there are some things you need to know. First, there are a lot of misconceptions about nonverbal communication. For example, there are a number of books (including one best-seller) that suggest that you can read people like a book. It’s simply not true. You can, however, become better at reading (and more clearly enacting) nonverbally through practice.

1. Body language is not a language:

As mentioned, there is no dictionary for nonverbal communication. The meaning of a particular nonverbal cue, such as a certain gesture or eye movement, can depend on the context, the individual, and the relationship between the sender of the cue and the recipient. The exceptions are certain gestures, known as emblems gestures that take the place of the spoken word, such as the ok symbol made with thumb and forefinger, or flipping someone the bird the meaning of these emblems is clear! So, do not think that just because someone has crossed his or her arms (or legs) that it means any particular thing. Context matters, as does individual personal style. Some people may simply be more comfortable crossing their arms in social situations it may have nothing to do with you.

2. The key may be in the context:

Certain nonverbal behaviors, such as invading someone's bubble of personal space, automatically causes arousal. How that arousal is interpreted depends on the context. In a positive encounter/situation, a slight intrusion into someone's bubble may trigger arousal that can lead to a positive reaction liking, sexual interest, etc. In a situation involving a struggle for dominance, invading another s space can lead to anger, or perhaps fear, in the other person.

3. Certain facial expressions have universal meaning:

There is good evidence that the basic facial expressions of anger, happiness, sadness, disgust, surprise, and fear, are displayed similarly across cultures. We can recognize a happy face in just about anyone in the world. The problem is that it is very hard, without training, to be able to distinguish a genuine display of happiness from a fake pose and smile.

4. It takes one to know one:

There are individual differences in people's abilities to communicate nonverbally. This is a big part of the construct of emotional intelligence. Certain people are very skilled at clearly expressing themselves nonverbally sending clear messages of emotions, liking, dominance, etc. Others are very good at reading or decoding, others nonverbal cues. AND, these two abilities are correlated, such that a good sender is more likely to be a good receiver.

5. Lie detection is almost impossible:

There is a belief that we can tell if a person is lying through body language that a liar cannot look you in the eye, or displays nervous gestures. But it is nearly impossible to accurately detect lies simply through reading someone's body language. Although deception can cause arousal, people have different arousal displays, so one person might look guilty, and another truthful, regardless of their veracity. 

There is some research that suggests that there are a few, rare individuals who are able to detect deception at levels above chance, but even these people are not all that accurate (this research was the basis for the TV show Lie to Me, although the show suggested incorrectly that these deception detectors were almost infallible).
